Please vote for/add topics you'd like to hear more about at our Open Space Technology Tech Talk on January 29th

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

  1. What is a trust framework? Is UW NetID a trust framework?

The Federal Identity, Credential and Access Management (FICAM) program has approved InCommon and the Open Identity Exchange (OIX) as a "trust framework" providers. In turn, InCommon is working on identity assurance profiles aligned with federal levels of assurance (LOA1 and LOA2), while OIX has certified Google at LOA1. In this session, we'll develop a conceptual model for trust frameworks that applies to the loosely defined trust models here at the UW, as well as to other trust frameworks involving InCommon, US government, and social networks. Everyone is welcome, but folks working on the UW NetID Password Policy Foundations project are…

      • API management services at the UW

"API management is the process of publishing, promoting and overseeing application programming interfaces (APIs) in a secure, scalable environment. It also includes the creation of end user support resources that define and document the API."

        http://searchcloudapplications.techtarget.com/definition/API-management

There are a bunch of emerging services (apigee, mashery, apiary, etc.) that offer to do API management for you. Is there a place for them at the UW? If not, is there something we can learn from them?

          • Key Web Service

AIS is about to release a Key Web Service for managing encryption (symmetric) and signing (asymmetric) keys. The service is particularly targeted for use with event messages encrypted with a key shared between multiple consumers, but has other uses, too.

What do people think this kind of service? Does anyone have other applications?
